Charter Post - Entry 5.10.2007.1

Residually goaded by my own persuasion of a friend, I decided it was time to jump back into blogging.

Last night I convinced Scott Moore that he owed it to the world (or at least me) to have a blog expanding upon his work as reporter and news editor at the weekly Portland Mercury. After I saw his blog, I was finally motivated enough to make my own.

I started blogging about 8 years ago, although when I started we didn't have blogging sites like Blogger and we didn't call it blogging. We called it E/N or web journaling and probably some other things I don't recall. I eventually gave up running my own site and opted for the community-driven Live Journal experience, where I met, provoked, and hopefully amused a lot of interesting people. And yes, blogging has gotten me laid at least once, but that, my friends, was in the days when one could win hearts with a keyboard and blogs were just really long web pages with entries in reverse chronological order. Maybe things haven't changed so much.

Here you'll find me having recently moved to Portland, OR, living in the NE neighborhood of Concordia near the charming avenue they call Alberta St in the house of one Ashod Simonian, musician, production manager, and just recently a published author/photographer.

This blog will contain my own experiences as a musician, aspiring gastronome, and born-again North Westerner. I'm looking forward to writing about my transition from driver to bicyclist, and also I'm going to use this forum to help explore a creative direction I've been fantasying about for some time. That's right -- macaroni and finger paint mixed media.

And of course, just as when I started blogging, I'm going to spend all sorts of time writing about other people's art, especially the work of my friends.
